Lost Baby Elephant Knocks

on Gamekeeper’s Door

A ten day old baby elephant got lost from its mother at Thula Thula, the African game reserve that was founded by The Elephant Whisperer.

The baby was so smart that it knew it’s best chance for survival was to walk thirty miles, and knock on the door of the game warden. This was no mere chance as the game reserve is 11,000 acres.

Mrs Francoise Anthony, widow of Lawrence Anthony, the famous “Elephant Whisperer”,  said that the baby elephant appeared “starving, dehydrated and very stressed” when she first walked in and staff quickly fed her while rangers went out to locate her mother.

The baby was soon safely reunited with it’s mother.

I cannot more highly recommend the book The Elephant Whisperer. It is funny, amazing and you will know after you have read it that elephants are highly sentient beings. They should not be kept in cages (along with dolphins and great apes).
