Goal Setting – How to Win in Life

What is a win?  A win is setting a goal and doing it.

If someone else sets your goals for your then you won’t win much. You can do ten times as much in an area that you like as you can in one which you dislike.

People who do not set goals cannot win, they do not have any future. Goals imply future time. No goals imply no future. People don’t win because they do not set goals or they set unattainable goals, giving themselves a loss.

To win, set a goal you can do, and do it. Then, set a larger goal.

Society often ‘makes’ one set higher goals than one could naturally achieve. In order to ‘keep up’ on attempts to do something that one cannot do. This is not the way to win.

Winning requires:

  • Awareness and honesty about what you can do.

  • Awareness that it doesn’t matter what your current condition is, it matters very much whether you are going up (winning) or going down (losing).

  • Setting goals that you can achieve. (For example, Tidy your desk, finish that book, apply for a job, phone that contact, complete that course, apply for a PEL grant ($5,000 free money for college), lift some weights, take photos of household items for insurance claims, learn how to make a raw plant food meal).

  • Achieving them.

  • Setting new goals.

That is all there is to it.

Most people aren’t up to this simplicity. Most people have ‘failed’ at some time in the past and have decided to quite and not set goals any more. Stuck back in that failure they ‘just exist’ without a future, spending the years in front of a TV set or wasting time on the computer.
